 Crofting Reform Act 2010

The Crofting Reform Act 2010 introduces various changes to crofting which are being introduced in stages through Commencement Orders.  The 1st Commencement Order was made on 10 December 2010 and information regarding this can be found here.

 

A second and more substantial Commencement Order was laid on 16 September 2011.  This brings some major provisions of the new Act into effect as of 1 October 2011.  Information regarding this 2nd Commencement Order can be found here.  For further information on Succession to croft tenancies please click here.

Crofters Commission Interim Plan

The Crofters Commission has been directed by the Minister to submit an Interim Plan, in advance of the Plan which the new Crofting Commission will be required to publish within 6 months of its establishment on 1 April 2012.  This Interim Plan came into effect on 1 October 2011 and has received Ministerial consent.  It outlines the policies which the Crofters Commission has regard to in discharging its duties under the 2010 Act.  Full details of this plan can be viewed here.
